I have an odd problem. I have a Netgear VPN/Router (ProSafe538) and I can connect to the vpn with no issues. My issue comes in where I can only connect to about 10 of the machines on the network and not the others. All the Linux machines are fine and I can ping them and putty in, all the Vista are fine and I can ping them and RDT in but the XP boxes are having big problems. I think out of about 15 boxes I can ping and access 2 of them. What is weird is they are all available on the local network with no issue, it is only when you connect via the VPN that they all 'disappear'.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do these "disappearing" boxes have windows firewall enabled?

Also check if you can RDP into a Vista box, and from there to any XP box.

Also try VNC.

Yep firewall's disabled and as long as it is local I can RDT and ping all the boxes, the problem only happens when you connect from an external IP that they all become un-available :s

VNC would not work either (if it was an option which it isn't due to managements request), surely if you can't even ping VNC would not be able to make a connection.
