Hi Guys,

i have a problem trying to get a vpn to work
on server end i have a cisco router connected to a netgear fvs 318 switch, on one site i have a netgear 834 router, this one works but keeps dropping connection. on another site i am trying to connect using vpn client software, here i cannot even connect to the fvs318. I seem to think that the problem is related to the cisco supplied by IS.
Any Ideas

the cisco is connected to IS and the netgear to Saix by any chance?

yes the netgear dg834 is thru saix, the cisco is thru IS and the client software system is trying to connect thru saix.

There is your problem Seether, not with IS but with SAIX. Saix drops vpn connections on random intervals when crossing the peering link. I dont know how they do it but we had to setup our VPN server/client on non-standard ports to eliminate this problem.

Now there is absolutely no drops involved.

Thanks for the info, would the Netgear guys know what ports I should use?

Or can you advise.
