Hi all,

I am trying to set up VPN on Windows 2000 server via a Marconi POTS Router. As far as I can tell I have done the neccessary in Win2000 Routing and Remote Access, but I don't know how to set up the Router to direct incoming requests to the server IP.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Marconi Pots Settings

On the router settings --> Click on Basic Configuration --> PAT

Add the following entries:

Prototcol | Interface | Service Name | PortNo | Server IP | Server Port

GRE | ATM1 | GRE Tunneling| 47 |[Ip of VPN]| 47
TCP | ATM1 | PPTP | 1723 |[Ip of VPN]| 1723

Some people say you need the following, but others don't mention it
UDP | ATM1 | IPSec | 500 | [IP of VPN]| 500

This is apparently the correct set up, but I haven't been able to get it fully working yet. Can someone please comment if this is correct or not.

Try it out, tell me how it goes.

It does work

Just leave out the UDP 500 port. Don't need any extra holes.
Just make sure your firewall and if you have any other worm protection software, check that as well.
