Anyone use vps.co.za.

From last night been having issues, now takes forever to load their control panel pages and my VPS is down.

Anyone else having issues?

Have had that quite a bit with some hosts in SA. It's highly annoying. I'd suggest putting your stuff on cloudflare to have some sort of uptime for some of your sites (if you use it for hosting). They're putting a node in JHB this year AFAIK

Why don't you guys just use host1plus.com

They've got servers at IS in JHB.

I've got 2 VPS's with them and at $2 a month its value that can't be beaten.

I've got one there too, I find it is a lot slower than the one from vps.co.za, but then this one is more expensive.

I use elitehost for my VPS. They're currently going full SSD, so if you want speed, check them out. I also heard they're not a Cloudflare Optimized Partner (the only one in South Africa) and since Cloudflare is launching their new node in JHB in this month, I'd definitely consider moving my hosting to them

You are starting to sound like a broken record. We understand that you like Elitehost and that is cool, we really get it.

Slow as in, PCU/disk performance, or slow as in bandwidth/latency? I'm only asking because I'm shopping for a place to put some stuff in ZA and this looks nice for the price.

Must be disk io or something, because I get quite good speeds from host1plus on my $2 vps. The disk io however looks like 40MB/s throughput, which seems like half of a single spindle.

One of our current local providers of services is launching a new cloud solution next week, we were asked if we wanted to test, interesting disk read speeds that we are getting in benchmark testing: See link

Yes, CPU/disk performance. Notice the difference when working with MySQL db's, my R99 VPS with vps.co.za is quite capable.

Many people are cloudflare partners here. Its really not hard to get it. The difference between been a normal partner and an optimized one, is running Railgun on your servers.
