I picked up a full set of Vredestein Hi Trac 2's for my car not so long ago- replacing my Yokohama's which were finished. They are a good premium brand and Tonneson's are selling them for even cheaper than the budget Khumo KU17's (Nothing wrong with the Kuhmo KU17's except for the fact that SA dealers are trying to market and price them as a mid-range brand when they are definitely budget tyres.)
But back to the Vredestein's. I'm impressed. In terms of road-holding they are not quite up to the standard of the Yokohama's in dry weather but in wet weather they are much better. The Vredestein's are also a lot more comfortable and a lot quieter than the Yokohama's.
Up until I bit the bullet and bought them I didn't know much about the brand but after reading up about them and actually driving with a set I would seriously consider buying them again. At the moment they are also really cheap.
