A client of mine is connected with telkom vsat, able to browse, but only certain sites. Able to pull mail from telkom pop3 but not my mail server.
After being on ph to telkom for most of yesterday, I get told to log a service request. At 1708 it is done. At 2355 apparently telkom tech calls me, but I happen to be busy with my 3rd dream, so the entire wednesday passes me by trying to make contact with a tech from the vsat tech dep. At 12 I get told my prob has been given a priority and will be attended to within 1 hour. At 1715 I have no more words left when technician 19 ads my comments to the system. It is now 1945, no news as yet.
Poor client has not been able to pull his mail for almost 3 months now, yet he does receive mail from telkom pop. Could it be that the dns is blocking our mailserber and certain sites?
Pse help me someone, before I get buried with service request no 510-363472

Vsat issues

Does anyone know of a client using telkom satelite, having to receive mail from a pop other than telkom?

I'm not familiar with satellite services or anything, if it works the same as adsl you may want to test other dns servers.

try www.opendns.com

That way you can narrow it down and see if it's not dns related, other things could be a software firewall that's blocking a port or something related ;)

Had a client in Heidelberg, Southern Cape that used used Telkom
Spacestream solution, receive via Satellite and send via ISDN

They connected to @Lantic.net email server, but they had to login
in manually into the Telkom server, assigned DHCP internal IP address.

Client switched to SAIX Gold not perfect but better than the satellite
as they can host their own email and ftp servers now.

Hi,

I am on SpaceStream with Lantic as ISP

I can't access the telkom site for some weeks now.

Not sure why? DNS issue? I am using the DNS settings that are advertised in the notice on the login screen.

It only bugs me when I want to visit the telkom site, I have to use Googles cache. The rest of the Internet is accessible, including all my pop3 mailboxes. They are all hosted through Webonline on local and international servers.

Best regards,

Murray
