Vuka bikes

But someone said they have Honda engines, and thats not bad?
They most certainly do not have Honda engines!

Just walk into any Honda dealer and try asking for spare parts for your Vuka..

A lot of these cheap scooters and bikes have imitation engines of other brands - but these are at best nothing more than cheap "reverse engineered" copies.. ;)

I would most certainly not expect to get Honda's reliability from a Vuka..

They are derivatives of the older tech tried and proven Honda 4 stroke engine.
Here's one used in this trike

They've been selling in SA for some time now and built up a fairly good reputation.

Having been there and done that I'll say not to buy a scooter - the drive belt have to be replaced every 6000kms. Plus it's a bit more bumpy than a scrambler or city bike.

Better buy a 125cc scrambler or city bike with chain - you'll have to oil it every 500kms but at least it won't need replacement if you maintain it regularly.

Derivatives yes.. that's what I meant.. by "copies" ... but they are neither produced nor supported by Honda.. - and thus are not Honda engines..
Simply copying the Honda motor does not guarantee that they are of the same build quality..

At R5000 a bike, I dont expect them to be the same build quality as Honda, but I only have to do a couple of kms in it daily.

Price wasn't too bad last time I checked, but I honestly can't recall what it is now... about R14k I think, but I might be way off.

*edit* What makes you say it's a Honda-derived unit? As far as I can tell it's Sachs' own engine design *edit*

Every time I would get on mine I would think: "If only it was a Vespa"

I bought a "harley lookalike" Skygo 250 chopper some two years ago. Only use it for fun - has done 2000kms.

Engine goes and sounds good, fuel cons 30km/lit. Must admit - the chrome parts tend to rust (at the coast), but other than that I am quite happy considering the fatc that it cost only R21k.

Skygo also makes scramblers - up to 200cc.
