I was about to get the Vuka XT150 but was given the opportunity to choose between this scooter and a Deawo Matiz......

The Vuka will be brand new at R10k while the car has 147K on the clock for R30k....its a 3cyl 0.8 liter engine and claims 13km/l in city driving.Tank takes R260 to fill up and you get roughly 400km per tank.

This car is small and light on fuel and I wont have to worry about wind or rain as with the scooter.

Having owed a 3 cylinder car before(86 charade) I know these cars are economical but the Charade I had would be on 3000RPM while driving 70km/h....and didn't sound comfortable at that RPM and anything over that RPM for long periods would have it NOT being so economical(still less than other cars though). Is it the same story with the Matiz and are there any specific problems the Matiz has that I should look out for......if its a good car Ill be taking it by the weekend.

Any comments,especially from Matiz owners.

Btw this will be a car will be primarily used for work to save on fuel.

Yeah but I live in CT.....Gale force winds in Summer and ice cold, wet winters....so Id save a lot with the scooter from not being able to drive it.....if the scooter is the better deal overall then Id go for it but just want some info on that car from some owners.

I commuted for 2 yrs to Stellenbosch from S/West on my crappy GF170. After 15'000km I saved a lot of money and it was worth it. We also have an ATOS which is also suppose to be lite on juice, but the petrol consumption was 3 times my bike.

And Wind - yeh, lots and strong on the R44 - but no problem with a descent sized engine (160cc) for a small bike.

But remember your bike safety: Descent helmet; Leather Jacket; Gloves; Long pants; and overall visibility.

(Our office is now S/West do now I can even cycle to save even more)

I also work in Somerset West but have to travell from Gordons Bay which isn't far....but the wind in G-Bay is the most terrible thing ever.....just last week alone it was gale force winds there from Sunday till early Friday morning, and the was NO wind in Somerset West at all(just a breeze) for the whole week.....So basically the travelling is from G-Bay to S-West in the week with 1 day to Belville(Pen tech) per week for part time studies.

I really do want the scooter but theres no way to explain to you guys about the wind where I live.

Daewoo Matiz now rebranded as the Chev Spark. Should have no probs solid reliable korean car dont think you'll have hassles with it.

Ive read a quiet a few stories of the cars ignition always giving problems and read 1 or 2 overheating problems......apart from the ignition problem the car seems very reliable but thats why I came here to hear it from an owner.

dont know hey, I'll opt for a tried and tested Citi golf, but economically wise the scooter makes more sense....and might just ruin your sex life :p...
