I just got fibre installed last week. It is a 20mbps Vuma line, with Afrihost as the provider.
I am using the Afrihost provided D-Link router, and am having issues.
If I connect my Mac directly to the Huawei ONT things work well, I get a download speed of arounf 500/600 kbps.
If I connect the D-Link router to the ONT and then connect to the router over Wifi, the connection is sporadic. Something like a speed test will work fine, but if I try download something the speed will drop significantly to where the download is dropped completely. Also web pages will be loading fine, then will slow down to a crawl, then work again. I don't know what the issue is as my mac is literally 15 meters away from the router through two open doors. It shows a full wifi signal.
Is there something that I need to set up on the D-Link? I just selected DHCP as the internet connection, and connected to the 5Ghz Wifi.
Also, I am no IT expert, but when I look at the line history on the Vumatel portal, it appears that the line is disconnecting every 20 minutes. Screenshot of log attached. Is that normal?
