Openserve uses NokiaOK, so Vuma tell me that if you're on Vuma Core, they use one brand and if you're on Vuma Reach, they use another brand - I think Vuma Core is the Huawei, not sure, but their attitude is "Sorry, no can do - can only supply Huawei". So quite literally, anyone who contracts to US Government is not allowed to use Vumatel thanks to section 889 compliance.
Probably a Vumatel issue. I don't think the ISPs have a say in which ONT the FNO installs. Sorry to hear that you're being hamstrung by this - Vuma the only fibre provider in your area?I’m not sure if this is an Afrihost issue or a Vumatel issue. I will try Vuma directly.
Also Huawei. I have a Huawei ONT.Openserve uses Nokia
Also Huawei. I have a Huawei ONT.
VUMA core uses Raycore
VUMA Aerial uses Calix (old SADV) and Huawei
VUMA Reach also uses Huawei
They will not change it unfortunately. If you are very very lucky you can get them to install a Calix but, I am sorry to say, will most probably not happen. It’s Vuma aerial. Lady said Huawei only. I’ll have to escalate. @Afrigirl you would be a legend if you could assist. I can send details?
I have spoken to people who got a Huawei all in one device on the free trial. A real POS and a mission to get reprovisioned when the trial is over and you want to switch to another ISP.They gave me a cheapo Nokia one when I took the free trial from them.

Was wondering the same. The ONT shows up nowhere in the grand scheme of things. It is basically a converter from digital signal to analog signal, or am I missing something? How would not having a Huawei ONT make any difference?
Can’t have Huawei equipment on my network. Can’t have Hikvision, Dahua, ZTE, Huawei and Hytera. Just google section 889.

Not really, USG works all over the world and are aware of things outside their control. It’s what I control or is on my LAN that counts.
Sure, you could argue that the piece of cable between my router and my ONT is a WAN cable, but it’s right there sitting in my home and I’m not getting caught lying. I have no problem asking them if it’s OK and declaring it but right now I’m making another plan so it’s not my problem.
It should be easier…
