Hi,

I know there are a lot of threads on this question already but they are dated as such that they don't take into account all of the issues I have experienced @ CW lately

Link / speed issues locally and especially international traffic, shifting blame to Vumatel and after three weeks had enough

I am on 50/50 @ R899 a month

Looking to move for something similar, don't want a 'free' router / modem and also month to month

Looks like all of the competition is @ R1099 with routers

Any suggestions? If I have to go more expensive it has to be solid up / down and consistent speeds

Thanks

Cool Ideas @R1049. The R150 more is worth it. But I will wait for a week more. Crystal Web not bad, it just they had a bad month. Take the router and sell it. That will drive it effectively to R999. :)

CellC has a 3 months free promotion. Since you have router and installed line. It might work out cheap.
I happy with CellC, but my friends Cool ideas 100mbps is way better and consistent up and down. Cellc upload bounces a lot(drops sometimes to 40% line speed) and downloads are always at max speed.

Thanks for all the replies....Cool idea's it is then, but will give them another week.

Other than the inconsistent speeds it is playing havoc with things like not being able to connect back to my Plex server from the outside, Kindle's won't DL books....not great when you start to think any issue on the WiFi 'may' be the provider but you just don't know

One question...

Speedtest to local hosting I 'usually' get my 50/50, do the same test to international (London) and @ the moment it is around 10 Mbits

What is to be expected in terms of International speeds when / if CW had resolved their issues, I am guessing international bandwidth will be less than local but what is the 'norm' in terms of being acceptable in this home fibre market?

This is quite a difficult question to answer as a lot depends on the destination server and international traffic in general. I have a 100/100 Cool Ideas connection and this is what I get to London http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6477872344

In particular on a 50/50 connection, I'd expect to get close to full speed downloads to the UK and most of Europe, but maybe 35Mb -40Mb for the US. Upload is normally more limited by the destination, so I'd expect that to be anything from 10Mb to about 30Mb depending on the destination server.

I have to LOL at people who still put up with these type of responses, and keep giving the ISP one more month to sort out their problems. Just leave. Vote with your wallet.

I agree...if their phones worked I could call to cancel, maybe that is the reason why they have gone 'offline'

Great response from CW when I ask to cancel that it is a months notice, so sorry you need to wait another month and that everything is 'best effort' and they start quoting their T&C's in their response to me and that they really are doing their best....sniff, sniff

Yep, that is only fair. Their terms which you have agreed to.

As CrystalWeb are clearly in unable to deliver on their contract, they should as a sign of good faith waive the month of notice period in lieu of being unable to deliver on their service for the preceding month.

Anything else and it can be construed as a last money grab to eek out the most money from the client before they leave. In which case, I'd gladly pay R899 as school fee's to get rid of them.

Pity though, CW had a solid reputation.
