I was walking around in the mall yesterday and all I heard was Vuvuzela's on the broadcast of the tellies. Vuvuzela's sounds like pathetic insects crapping themselves. Even the name Vuvuzela sounds dumb.

When a team does something great why not cheer and clap hands as I believe this will raise much much more spirit than blowing on some godawful piece of crap. I feel sorry for the international folk who aren't used to this annoying sound.

First they'll arrive at the stadium being greeted by "djy, gee af djo wallet my broer" ..then when they sit finally sit down .."djy gee da 'n entjie!" and then to top the horrible day off they have to hear the constant sound of buzzing beez.

I'm so not proudly African.

looks like roles have reversed, SABC is unbearable while on SS3 it's not as bad.

everytime I read the thread title I say that brenda Fussie song vulindlela in my head..weird

I think it's coz you lot are focused on the noise so much that it annoys you so. I watched todays games and when I focused on the game and relaxed a bit the vuvuzelas weren't that bad...and I watched it in HD with surround sound!

Forumites tend to be types who have gripes about everything anyway so that poll aint fair! :p

The problem is more that international fans aren't used to it and I've spoken to a lot and the majority can't stand it.

lol... I'm actually inclined to believe that technology (the internet, for example) has spoilt a lot of us when it comes to choice and annoyance. If we don't want to put up with something that annoys us, we switch to something else or just don't look at it. If we someone irritates us, we close the window, slam the ignore button or remove them from our buddy lists.

I motion that vuvuzelas be made illegal to use in public and residential areas and be limited to use in stadiums or whatever. I don't see why another person's desire to go deaf should be inflicted on the rest of us.

I wish I could shove it up their arses.

If they at least played some sort of melody, it would have been fine.

This just shows Africa's lack of creativity.

Likewise all the forums I've been on have had nothing but praise about the football on display so far...and at the end of the day we're going to be judged by the quality of the tournament and the organisation.

Yeah sure a few may get annoyed but a true supporter of a team will follow that team no matter where they play. I doubt air horns will put them off. Ironically when Man U came to SA I saw many Man U fans with red vuvuzelas, at the Iraq SA game there were Iraqi fans with vuvuzelas and likewise at the games today. I think the fans who do come will probably join in. Have you seen some of the mayhem that goes on at football games in other countries?

FIFA has all the cash in the world, they can hire sound engineers to filter that sound out. Personally i don't mind it.

You do know the Man U fans, except for a minority were all South Africans? And no one saying that it will stop people form coming, the vuvuzelas will probably be a great item to sell.

While the quality of football may have been good, it's the the small things people always remember at the end of the day. Simply banning the horns and getting rid of that racket will make a world of difference for the viewer's enjoyment.

If FIFA filter the sound out then you won't be able to hear any of the crowd and the atmosphere won't translate over TV.

So even you have to admit that it is unbearable? !!!

For the first few minutes on SABC yeah... they were trying to fix it and apologized too.. but I watched the game on SS3 and it was music to my ears :D

To the 5 guys/girls who voted for 'music to my ears' (10 votes), you are not supposed to count each ear separately.

Being a moderator at a big Inter Milan forum I can tell you guys the majority of posters there can't stand this noise. Most are putting tv's on mute because of the noise. Probably aren't going to stop people from coming to watch their team but they aren't liking this noise at all.

mhhh... Dont necessarily like the thing, but every place has its unique way of supporting its sports. Europeans chant and burn crackers in the stadiums, South Americans whistle and chant and we blow the damn thing. If it was going to be problem they should have been banned at the stadiums or better yet the stage the event somewhere else...

People on forums are easily irritated and always complaining, most people don't care.
