I'm about to purchase a used golf v 2 fsi with over 80000KM. The car has done its75K service last year and its now due to a year service "since it has not hit the 90K mark". The car looks in good condition for a 2005 year model and its going at a competitive price.

There is no warranty or service plan with since it has all expired. I'm thinking of extending the warranty and pay for the sercives my self.

I'm just a bit worried that this 1st service might cost a a bit of money. Does anyone known of any common issues with this cars/engines when they hit this kind of millage.

hi, I bought me a 2.0 FSI two years ago, also very good condition 2005 model. immaculate. Nice car , I must say. I bought this car on 54000km's, had a maintenance plan until 60 0000km.
So, my first service was free, that was cool. I was also anticipating the next services, but to tell you the truth, a minor service costed me R900 , major R1400 (probably what you would pay for next service, if you go to barons). I always anticipated extra work when servicing, but nothing.
I had no issues, beside changing one coil pack myself a few weeks ago( which is normal wear and tear)., costed me R700 and I'm now almost on 120 000km
Also , for a 2 litre, this car is very economical,. I get on at times 700km on tank (55 litre)
I booked my next service which will be cam belt change @ 120 000km. Should probably cost like R3000 @ dealers, but that's normal for thsi type of job.
Very happy with the car, still going strong, still planning on keeping another 2 years.

I sold mine last year... Cambelt service was closer to R6500 unfortunately and I also couldnt get more that 450km on a tank but maybe its because of my heavy foot. Miss that car quite a bit.

I read that because of the Direct injection on the FSI models it causes a carbon buildup in the engine which causes your valves to not seal properly anymore. The only fix is to open up the whole engine and scrap it clean.

Google FSI carbon buildup.

Then this will be true for all FSI engines, Audi R8, S5 included ?
Also, I know that in the book, it says that the FSi engine does burn slightly more oil than normal engines.
Need about 1 pint oil topup between services. This is normal

the engine gets noisy, i think its something to do with the pump. the things ontop of the spark plugs always wear
