VW Golf SV hits SA

New Golf "SportsVan" hits SA; in the past it was called the Golf Plus which we never saw here.

Will go as a slightly cheaper option than the 2 premium MPV's~ B-Class & 2-Series Active Tourer.

I thinks it's a good addition to the local VW lineup...

I'm not sure I see the point of releasing this car, rather than something that our market actually needs like their little half tonner.

All valid; the Golf SV has less space & no 7-Seater option like the Touran but the current Touran is not based on the Golf's MQB platform

Still "old school handbrake"; no stock infotainment screen etc.

You need to wait a bit longer for Touran MK3 for all those things.

I checked out the Golf SV pricing relative to the current Touran & there is not that much overlap eg. Touran only has 1 model with DSG box; Golf SV has more; Touran has Highline spec while there is no Highline spec for the Golf SV.

They look incredibly similar.. its one of the reasons I don't get the sv.. just doesn't make sense to me.

Attending the combined SV and Polo GTI launch tomorrow. It is a bit of an odd one, but I have my suspicions that VW will be launching this instead of - rather than in addition to - the new Touran. Touran's not a great seller locally...

So just a styling upgrade? Well still happy with mine, get about 5.9 l/100km on the long trip; 5.4 if I drive really nicely. I'd rather get the new Tiguan though if I had a choice between the SV and Tiguan.
