VW Jetta 3 - Dashboard clock and counter resetting.

Hi all,

Strange problem i'm having. When I switch the car off and remove the keys, everything gets recent - this being recent distance traveled and the time. When I turn the keys, I get and electronic kinda noise (hard to describe) and then everything is reset again, clock back to 00:00. Anyone have an idea what the problem could be?
Only thing I can truly think of is that I had a friend have a look at my fuses recently; something could be related.

The electronic noise you hear when you turn the key is the electronic fuel pump which starts up when the ignition is on.

I'd say it's your car battery that's causing the trip counter and to reset itself. It's probably on it's way out.

Yes the only way that system resets itself is when it's getting no power. But your car a new battery for Christmas
