VW Jetta - upgraded engines?

Don't think the Golf5 had the TSI and 1.6 TDI engines?? If you check the website the 2.0, 1.6, 1.9 tdi etc no longer feature

Oh. Wow, that's nice. Haven't checked VWSA's website in ages (other than the New Polo section). In that case it's definitely the Golf 6 / Polo 6R engines.

EDIT: Yip, just checked and they are identical. All Euro 5 compliant, except the 1.6 petrol.

Sigh, thats just about forever to wait... although, not like I could afford it until then anyway!

i'm not at all big up on VW knowledge but isnt the old 2.0t engine better than the "new" one

Yip!!! the 2.0TFSi Jetta has the same engine as the MK6GTi and the Sciroco 2.0T.
They all make 155kw at the wheels.

A friend of mine raced his Jetta against his MK5 BWA Gti with Downpipe and the Jetta won but 2 cars... (The Jetta is a DSG) but still....

"MK5 BWA Gti " thats the one i thought was making more power!

I'd like my next car to have gearshift paddles. If choosing a VW is DSG what I need to go for?

S tronic
Faster gearshifts, sportier driving: the S tronic combines the sporty characteristics of a manual gearbox with the advantages of an automatic. Gear-changes with the dual-clutch gearbox are performed easily and with no appreciable delay. Depending on the driver’s preference, the gears may be shifted in fully automatic mode or in manual mode using the gearshift paddles on the steering-wheel.

Double act: the dual clutch forms the technical basis of the S tronic. One of the two clutches engages the odd-numbered gears and reverse, the other engages the even-numbered gears. The benefit: a gearbox that shifts from one gear to the next in less than 0.2 seconds and with no interruption in power flow.

When in operation, one gear is always engaged and another is pre-selected: while the first clutch is transmitting power in one gear, the second clutch has the next gear selected and ready to engage. When the gearshift point is reached, one clutch segment opens in a flash while the other closes. The driver therefore hardly notices the gearshift process.

The consistently efficient power transmission ideally supports a sporty driving style – both in automatic mode and with manual shifting:

The flexible automatic mode allows the driver to vary the gearshift behaviour between the sporty character of the shift programme S and the comfort-oriented shift programme D
If the driver prefers manual gearshift, the gears can be changed in sporty style with the gearshift paddles on the steering-wheel or with the selector lever.
Other advantages of S tronic: the gearbox’s high efficiency leads to low fuel consumption and reduced emissions.

Since VW don't have a 1.4 TSI 118kw model with DSG, then the interim 'car of my dreams' will have to be the Audi A3 1.8T 118kw with S-tronic. 306k brand new!

What about the Scirroco, I think thats 118kw...
