Hi

I recently bought a 2009 Polo Tdi highline (96kw)

It was a VW Mastercar from NTT VW Paarl.

I have found numerous issues with the car, mostly superficial issues - but the number of issues of minor issues I've found makes me really worried that there are more serious underlying issues which I can't see (I'm not that clued up about cars, so i don't know what to look for).

To summarize what I've found so far:

  • rust under bonnet
  • protective plastic under vehicle damaged / bent / not fitting properly
  • 3 shocks must be replaced, 4th one must be 'inspected' (took it to supa quick and Hi-Q)
  • plastic cover inside boot is loose and rattling
  • 2 lights not working
  • lots of squeaking on right of drivers seat
  • AC button gets stuck
  • I sometimes hear 3 beeps when i accelerate quickly (when i hit 3100 rpm in 2nd)

+ some other minor stuff

What do you think about this?

the car still has to go back to them to fix up issues I've found, but i feel that i should not have had to find rust under the bonnet, bad shocks etc...
Surely that should have been picked up by them and fixed!!!

I think the 80 point check is just marketing, and never actually gets done by dealerships.
They trying to make a profit, so I doubt they'll fix everything they actually should.

It's the same with servicing, there is a long list of things they should check, but I'm yet to find a dealer that does, they simply change the oil, and whatever else needs to be done, wash it (usually badly), and give you an invoice...

they check tyre pressure.
rust is not their problem.
AC switch is not their problem
Shocks, who said they must be replace.

Take car to some one who knows, write down all the problems and give to them.
Let they comment in writing to you.

They only want your money.

i bought my citi golf and in that 1st month they fixed what ever issue i had

wasnt major

but the dealership i doubt would buy a car with bad shocks and stuff

so they need to fix it cause its they fault in the 1st place for not fixing

the 80 point check im sure is there to check everything

80 point check is really just there to tell banks that you are not buying a wreck, when applying for finance.

Have the AA's technical inspection done. Cost in the region of 1.5k, but then you will be told about shocks, oil leaks, rust etc...
Then you will know what is wrong with the vehicle, then go to the dealer.
