VW Polo

I might have to change my car.
Questions galore:
- Polo Petrol or Diesel
- Polo or Polo Vivo
- Brand new (see they have a special for a brand new one) at R1999 pm with a residual of R63k with a 10% deposit or 2nd hand
- AVIS 2nd hand - Ex Fleet Cars

Any suggestions?:wtf::wtf:

Why do you want to get a car that's a target for thieves? Also overpriced with no service or maintenance plan.

I'd say rather get a Kia Rio Hatch.

In about 5 seconds, he will recommend a Corsa...

:D if only.... Sadly there is very little GMSA has in answer on the Polo BlueMotion, so that's why if its gotto be VW Polo then I'll go with BlueMotion.

The only GM alternative is the Korean based Chevy Sonic 1.3D but the styling is not exactly everyones cup of tea, especially not if you had your sights set on the more traditionally styled Polo.

But if you are considering Korean alternative then the Sonic should be on your shortlist.

Not sure you heard but the Korean cars are now in demand by car thieves, any car thats popular become targets...

thats a bold statement to make Roux. its not that overpriced as you trying to make it looks and the car comes with a warranty plan.

I recently bought a 2011 model and i must say that i am impressed.
if you willing to wait 6 months to a year for a Kia then go for it. by that time new models will be out and you will be driving an old car.

:erm: that was not me... but anyway.

Compared to Korean (and German) alternatives the Polo is indeed overpriced for what you get since all of them come with maintenance plans and in many cases you can get them at a lower price. Try comparing a 1.4 Polo to a 1.4 Corsa or i20 and you will see what I mean.

In terms a diesel you can compare the Polo 1.2 Bluemotion to a Sonic 1.3D and you will see that the Sonic costs R4k less, has 15kw more and comes with 3 years/60 000km service plan .

but some people like me choose looks over higher specs and price. i will never be happy buying a car of all its features and be upset that the car looks dog*****. so everyone is different, you cannot base cars just on price and specs Roux.

I think we have had that discussion before. But in general I agree with you.

Thing is, specs and other quantifiable things are stuff you can use to debate or reason around, like we do here in a forum. It is the kind of things you can compare to decide what offers you the best value for money. Appearance on the other hand is complete subjective and in all cases it will take precedence above features because as you pointed out, you would not want to drive a car that you do not feel is pretty.

Personally I can think of few cars more dull and mundane looking than a Polo, yet that is what draws many people to it, they do not want outlandish styling on their cars.

Why are you choosing a Polo then if you are after the looks?

100% correct there. people have different taste in cars and will buy cars for their own reasons.
