Polo is definitely over priced. You can get a Rio 1.4 or Fiesta 1.6 Trend for the same price, get more features, better looks and a service plan which is extra on the Polo.

When I was car shopping 3 months ago it took me all of two seconds to see that once you add service plan and other features you're actually in Honda Civic territory.
 
Fiestas do seem to have a more young 20's image to them. The Rio is actually really nice, but have poor after sales service compared to VW.

Don't forget about discounted Sonics and Corsas when there is a GM Red Tag sale.

Rio i will not wait for, fullstop. i hate the shape of the fiesta. polo is much better looking then a fiesta by miles.
you don't need to add all the extras. a normal service will cost you less then 1K. why would you wana pay stupid money for a service plan.

stop being biased towards vw cars. before i got the polo i was looking at the corsa essentia ranges, but the polo looked the part. the opc range is the best by far, but it was out of my price range and i don't want to ever buy a 2 door car again.

So what did you end up buying if I may ask?
 
Honda Ballade yes. Brand new, with Full extended maintenance plan for R213 000. So for the next 5 years all I have to pay for is tyres.

I have friends with Polos and went test driving everything from the Rio, to The Focus, to the Elantra, Mazda3 and even the Juke.

I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I actually think it looks better than the Civic anyway :)

Nothing wrong with a Civic. Damn good car.

Polo vs Civic no contest.

Polo vs Honda Jazz would depend if you were a girl or guy ;)

The Ballade has always been a good car.

How old are you btw, married, single?

If you single, under 28ish, you have the wrong car.

Lol.

The day I came to work my colleagues said I have a family car. I'm 26 currently single. Don't really give a crap though. :p

Like I said, my heart wanted the Focus. Awesome drive. Just felt they cut corners everywhere. Even on the Trend model that I was looking at.

The Ballade felt more luxurious, more "complete" and came with all the extras including a full sized alloy spare. Still can't believe the Trend Focus doesn't come with a leather steering wheel :erm:

Got a Lite for free, had it for 6 months, traded it in. They are nice cars and very pimpable, but you can do better without trying too hard...
