VW Towing Hook fault

Hi all,

I just got an email from VW saying that i must go to VW to get my towing hook replaced.

Here is the email:

Dear {My Name},

Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft in Germany has established that on some Volkswagen vehicles of a limited production period, the possibility exists that the towing hook supplied with the vehicle tool kit may have inferior welding. Please refer to the Customer letter (attached) for details.

In the unlikely event that your vehicle needs to be towed, please contact our Customer Interaction Centre (CIC) on 0860 434 737. The CIC will asisst you with the necessary arrangements for towing the vehicle safely. When calling the CIC, select option 1 when prompted.

We regret the inconvenience, but appreciate your cooperation.

I have no idea what VW you drive, but if it is an Amakrok(ofshyte) I suggest you do so ASAP.

nah its not the tow hitch, its the tow bar that u screw into the front of the bumper. I drive a polo so its not anything like the amarok lol

Oh, that one, on my car it's welded solid, both front and back, what is the reason for the removable one, aesthetics?

I’d call that a towing eye not a towing hook. Mines a casting, no welding at all.

Towing eye is vastly different to tow bar or tow hook.

As shown in the image - it as an eye. Not hook. :crylaugh:
