VW Up airbag recall

I have no idea if there's already a thread for this but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know anything about this maybe? My wife and my sister both bought their Up's on the same day, from the same dealer, but we got an airbag recall notice for the one car, but not the other, is there a place where I can check the VIN's without having to go to the dealers?

That site gives the below error for both cars, even the one we got the recall notice for.

"This is not a recognizable Volkswagen VIN. Please check your VIN and try again."

Does the same for my Polo - I guess that website doesn't take South African VINs?

Thanks for this thread. I just sold my Up! to a friend of mine so I have let them know to have it checked out.
Crazy how there were deaths known about all the way back in 2003 - 2004 as a result of this and it went on for this many years and this many cars are affected.
