Hello all, looking for a decent someone/company to build me a site from the ground up, register a domain etc. Would also like an email server that notifies me on my phone.

The only tricky thing will be a "Quick Quote" form, this will have to pull forex data(preferably live but once a day is fine) from an SA banks sell rate(preferably FNB but they don't really make this easy) and then do a bunch of calculations which I will provide in an excel spreadsheet and output a final number.

Been speaking to one web dev who is struggling with pulling the data, not sure if that will present a problem.

Rest of the site is easy, I have all the branding etc.

PM me!

Huh?

Pulling forex data that difficult?

Pulling *free* forex data, yep, can be daunting.

However, the client usually doesn't know what is easy and what is not. So whenever a programmer sees/hear a client go "the rest is easy and should take you xyz amount of time", they usually avoid that, because if it was easy, you could DIY

Ah I see, doesn't need to be free or even *free*.

The rest really is easy though, contact details and a homepage basically. No idea how long it should or would take or how much it will cost, is why I'm asking for quotes to start.

And I'm certainly not going to DIY this, will be the front end of my business, needs to be done properly.

Does the banks allow this?

Getting Forex data even free is a walk in the park. Getting forex rates that the bank adheres to at a given time is a whole different story

What do they need to allow? They publish this data continuously.

Don't need the exact rate at the exact second, is a quick ballpark for customers.

No idea what that means... FNB rates would be first prize though as I bank with them, they do make it difficult for you though. They will email you the rates twice a day, can you upload data from that? Would be perfect!

We needed the exchange rates from FNB and they told us to contact inet bfa as they are the people that provide a service for getting the exchange rates electronically. The email can work but it depends on how reliably they send it.

Ah "inet bfa" is a company, snappy name! Sorry though you spilt something on your keyboard :)

Much cleverer people than me are looking into this, will see what they come up with.

Well Scott, I could do you a Wordpress site and set the e-mails up, no prob. It's more challenging than a Google form, but I've done it before a few times.

The currency converter is another ballgame, I'll leave that to somebody else with an API.

Would a forex solution like this help?

The clever people are looking into everything.

Thanks thanks! Trying to see if the quote thing is possible first and will move from there. Aim for the best I say, and then invariably settle :)

Well that sucks, pfffft. Way to make your good friend Foxhound5366 feel wanted when you "invariably settle" :p
