There is a debate going on that affects every internet user in the world especially as regards to privacy issues. The w3c is a standards body for the web, that generally develops standards by way of consensus.

There is new technology that has been developed that stops websites from gathering information about users its called "Do not track" software. the debate is whether this software should be on by default - meaning that by default websites do not track/collect information about users. This should be a no-brainer

But the powers that be at W3C are up in arms against Microsoft (the modern day villan of the internet) who have made the software on by default. The w3c made the mind boggling decision to have the software turned off by default . Meaning that the status quo remains, you can only get to switch it on if u explicitly require the software to be turned on.

Now they are assuming everyone who uses the internet have enough experience using the internet to know that so much data about them is being tracked and collected. For once Microsoft has something right on the internet seems google dollar power is swaying things at w3c or maybe is it facebook power.

Do not be evil w3c:twisted:
