Here's the situation guys, I have been on a WebAfrica 2mbps uncapped data package (Telkom still has my line) for a few months now. For the first month, the service was satisfactory, although I could not understand why their usage restrictions were so severe (30GB per seven days). Anyway, my good friend has been a patron of WA for a long time and he says that it is okay to slightly deviate from that. I went over that months limit, and they temporarily locked my account. I appealed to them to re-instate my account, and they accepted.
This month, I went over their limit by 3GB and my account was terminated. I contacted their staff and they agreed to set me up with a new account. I accepted that hassle on the premiss that this would be the last of their niggles. However, since I started using my new account, the speed I have been getting unbelievably slow on P2P and News server downloading, during the day, I get about 20kbps-25kbps, and during the night, I sometimes get a steady 207kbps, HOWEVER, I get endless timeouts and disconnections.
This has been so *beep*ing frustrating for me, because I am keeping well in their usage guidelines as I took it upon myself to only download between 12pm and 6am. I am completely frustrated with their service, they caused me so much of trouble, had me set up a new account, and then I have to get such pathetic data services? And my friend has been having the same issues, he has a 1mbps package and he gets timeouts and slow speeds so often too.
I've had it with them, and so has my friend. We both are planning to move to Openweb's "Gamer's Delight, Downloader's Right" deal. Most people say that they have better service than WA, and they don't have such terrible network restrictions.
However, I'd just like to hear the opinion on current users of Openweb on how their experience is, especially those on the aforementioned package.
Is it better than WA? Are their frequent interruptions, how is the shaping on P2P and News server downloading? Any help would be gladly appreciated, thank you
