To cut a long story short Ive had a WA complete 384 unshaped line for around a year and a half now had absolutely no issues. Line probably been down for a total of 6 hours in that period. Must say super fast support and friendly staff.

About 3 weeks ago ADSL line went down, looked like either someone tried to steal cables or they were damaged by weather as they were drooping badly off their posts in my street. Logged call, week later all fixed.

So on the public holiday this Tuesday noticed line was down again. Log a call with WA must say very friendly consultant, explains there is no connection and has to log with Telkom. Im cool thanks saves me the hassel as Im a complete user.

Wednesday - Follow up with, WA very friendly consultant again, says I see line is still down but telkom is currently busy with the problem. Consultant doesnt want to give a time for resolution.

Thursday - Follow up again, WA very friendly consultant again, she says she needs to chat to telkom so after a little wait she tells me that Telkom suggest I find another "ALTERNATIVE BROADBAND SOLUTION." Im like WTF thats just Bizzarre Ive been using the service for a long time with absolutely no hitch. She was like suprised as Telkom say you are 9.5kms away from the exchange. Im like I dont care I just want the service Ive had for the last year and a half. She carries on says she will update the ticket ......................

So here I wait a bit confused, befuddled how quickly things change and how all of a sudden they want to palm me off. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Basically Telkom are not going to spend the money to replace the stolen copper cables.
There is nothing you can do to force them.

Telkom do have a 3G based wireless product that you may be able to get in your area.

I dont buy that I live in a complex with free standing units. The whole streets telephone lines and internet were down as well as the complex as I said the matter was resolved in just over a week. My line then worked for about a week after that and now down again. Everyone elses connection in complex and street are working my telephone is also working so its something else.

Indeed, i would suggest you catch one of those telkom technicians loafing in their vans - u might have to bribe them with something small like a coke or whatever and chances are they may help you in verifying if your line is indeed fooked. This would be a lot quicker than going through Telkom's useless helpdesk system.

Yea indeed Ill do more than just get them a coke hahaha. Just frustrating and found it Bizzarre how in todays day and age they could just so flipantly suggest another service. I suppose they are pretty monopolistic so they CAN.

Okay problem solved my connection is up and fancy that after saying I should look for another DSL option? Thanks WA for sorting telkom out.

I think the WA agent, (that friendly, helpful one) gave you a BS story about the reason for the downtime....

Still in awe at what was suggested. Line still up and working at great speeds :) I reckon the WA official may have gotten hold of a very LAZY telkom support person. Or yes I was FED a BS story.

Thanks for the kudo's and apologies for the disruption. I'll have this checked up, does sound very odd.
