I have finally ordered adsl 384 and i jus wanna know if any 1 knows how long the usual wait is to get approved and telkom to install the line. If any1 has connections in telkom that can install it quickly please pm me.

Thanks

Sup, no need for that just call 10219 i think it is, start about a week after you've ordered it. I got them to finalise mine in just under 2weeks. Only downside. there's a queue for installations.. so it'll depend on your area and such...

Good Luck,
JM

i ordered by the online application on telkoms website, should i still phone them anyways? i dont want to apply twice and they will probably screw sumthin up and try say i asked for 2 lines or sumthin! do u think this is possible?

lol, don't worry. You just tell them you want to query your order and give them your order number for them to look up...

Hey Silent_Bob,

I also applied over the net, about a week ago. Some guy phoned the next day and said they had got the order, and that he would phone the next day with a reference number...
Nothing for about 5 days.

So I called them up yesterday on 10219 and asked what my ref. no was. They gave it to me, and told me to call 0800456786 (installations) to get an installation date. So called them, and they said 27 May.

After a bit of sweet talking/ass kissing I got her to up my priority, so hopefully I will get it a bit sooner.

Hope this helps,
Nickste

Don't get excited... love your dial-up

Don't get excited. I placed my initial order in late October last year. On 15 December I was waiting for the techies to come and install my ADSL line. They confirmed, on their computers, the complex's ability to get a land line, as well as the exchange DSL capability. Nonetheless, no-one pitched. I got my residential line installed about 3 weeks ago... In the meantime, they have cancelled and resubmitted my DSL application about 4 times due to confusion form one call centre operator to the next, etc. etc. I am still waiting for DSL. Apparently, they realised after testing my residential line about a month ago (it was excellent) for DSL, they don't have enough DSLAM ports at the exchange, hence another project was launched. It's just been completed, so I'm waiting for "conformance testing", and then expect the next problem to pitch. My date (sounds like a pregnancy date) is now 29 July. What I'm saying is, don't hold your horses, you're only going to frustrate yourself. Don't even buy a modem/router yet, there'll probably be something better on the market by the time you get it.

Excellent advice!!

Nothing like an idle modem staring you in the face for a few months.

You're gonna regret that!!! Just stick it out...once you have your ADSL...you won't even think of this sad time that you're waiting for them mofos to come and install your line.

I ordered my 192k line 2 weeks ago, and this afternoon I'm going INTO their local branch to talk to some people. As with all businesses, if you just start to verbally attact the first person you talk to, they WILL (cuz I would have) just ignore you don't feel your pain...but if you appear pleasant and friendly, they might actually put some more effort into getting your line fixed/installed/woteva

It's taken me almost two months and still nothing (ordered 09 March). After repeated calls and bitch sessions I eventually found someone who proceeded to tell me my order status was flagged as "Customer Not Ready" and that he would flag it as "Customer Order Proceed" or something stupid like that. Their technicians are also fscking useless and are full of k4k. Apparently they phoned me on my cell and left a message, but I received no such message nor had anything in my Call Records.

Telkom are pathetic and have always been pathetic. Apparently a new date has been scheduled and they're coming to install my 384 line Wednesday next week. Oh yes, always make sure that you're contactable, otw they move your installation ahead 7 working days.

Maybe I've just had bad luck, and got stuck with a lazy technician, but its still highly irritating.

Is there any one here in the 011 702 area that have adsl installed? I am being told that the exchange is not compatible allthough it says it is on their website! I also found a webpage where it specifies the 011 702 area as having 20 ports available. No luck with the call centre, they just keep on telling you that your exchange is not compatible.

lol oh well, if they don't come on monday i'll screw it to them 6 ways from sunday :P So yah, i ordered my router yesterday, it'll be delivered on monday and they supposed to be here on tuesday :D Yeah! Well we'll see how it goes
