Wal-Mart Coming to SA?

I saw an article in the Beeld that Wal-mart might be coming to SA and that they are looking into some local retailers, such as Checkers or Massmart- http://www.sake24.com/articles/default/display_article.aspx?ArticleId=6-100_2579329

I remember a while back there was an article in which Wal-mart was one of the big companies saying they will not consider business in SA. So, I do not know how true this is.

Besides this, have anyone ever visited a Wal-mart overseas? What is your experience?

we went to Wal-Mart when we were in the USA last year and i loved it as they have a huge range of things on their shelves. the shops are also not full as they have a Wal-Mart on almost every block.

Unlikely. Just like McDonald's discovered an established market is very hard to break into

i am in Cape Town but spent a month in Fort Lauderdale in Florida but like i said, they have such a range of shops in you wont find the hustle and bustle inside them like you find here.
i guess everyone has a different experience when visiting any country but to be honest for me it was a different world. it was our first visit and just to experience the peace and quiet where we were and the choices you had wherever you went. the ease of life over there was amazing. Maybe we were in a lovely area but at a drop of a hat and all things worked out i could see myself staying there.
On the flipside, my daughter married an american and they were offered a house with a couple of thousand dollars rebate and so they saved up but then she got her 10yr green card thingy and at the same time got taxed $2000 because they did not have kids or a house or bought a car even though they both have cars and stay in an apartment complex and we don't understand that but ya thats their laws/rules.

maybe i had stars in my eyes but it is well worth it and even going to Miami was another world.
