My extremely bad reception today was so bad in fact that I missed 60% of the game. I live in charlo/Broadwood and have never experienced such bad reception. It just didn't let up and no on screen apology from DSTV.

It could be weather related, if others in your area experienced the same thing then that is probably it. If not then the problem is with your installation.
