OK, so now I have my modem and router. Now I want to make it all look neat, tidy and dust free. So now I need some advice.
I was thinking of using a small wall-mounted switch cabinet, but the smallest I know of, is a 4U 19" cabinet, which would be miles to big for the NT, modem & router. Does anyone know of a smaller one? My second option is to make a cabinet myself, either from wood, perspex, or maybe steel, with a 120mm case fan for cooling?
So, now for some questions:
1. What are the dimensions of the ADSL NT box that Telkom installs.
2. What would be the best material to allow the wireless signal to pass through easily (wood, perspex, etc.)?
3. Case fans I take it are 12V, what would be the best way to power it, a 12V multi-adaptor is one way(over-kill), but would it be possible to splice the power cord from either the modem or routers power adaptor, and split it to the fan? Would there then be a power drop to the hardware, and would it affect the performance (this one's for the electronic fundies
)?
OK, thats all I can think of for now, sure there will be more
So come on, I am sure I am not the only one that likes to keep things neat and tidy. What have you guys done, and how about some pics of the setup.
TIA
Mike
