Hi peeps. Ive had my Wireless network going for a while now between my Router and my Parents PC but lately this damn network keeps Disconnecting on its own. The signal strength states "Good" and the signal is only going through 2 bedrooms but whatever I do I cant seem to keep the 2 connected. If I move the router into the same room as the PC it stays connected the whole time... anybody know whats causing this disconnection?? i have this Telkom 5102G Router and a Dynalink Wireless card in the PC.

Thanks

Thanks ... Think its time to move on and get another router. Any good ones recommended? I most times forward ports for certain games to host servers pls could you recommend one.

Telkom router = bad

And you know this how? Obviously, you have LOTS of experience with it? Is this the best advice you got? I would love to get one of the new telkom routers as I think it is some of the BEST available. Plus the Billion support must be the best on these forums. /END_RANT

I suggest you start with a site survey to see which channels are used in the vicinity. Post your results as well as which channel your router is using.

Oh yes, obviously loads of experience..with multiple generations, iterations and
versions of the scrap labelled marconi

Is this the best advice you got?
See below thx

Netgear DG834's have lovely range and ease of use configuration. I personally prefer linksys :)

More info on original problem:
Just because the signal says it's fine doesnt mean actual data packages are traversing the distance succesfully. ( imagine pouring water and sand through a filter. Water's going fine, but the sand is a diff matter )

Not all of them. My Zyxel(Spelling) has been working non-stop for nearly a year. Getting download speeds on a 384k line of just over 40kbps.

IMHO thats not bad

The exception that proves the rule

Lucky bum ;)
