Can someone help. What settings are needed on a wireless router to use the WAN port. At the moment I use one machine to connect and enable ICS for all the others.

You attach your Iburst modem, via ethernet cable, to the WAN port. In the Router Configuration (usually via a web browser), you choose a PPPoe connection, and provide your Iburst login name and password. Set the MTU to 1352. After that, the router does all the work. As long as your pcs, laptops etc are connecting with the router, they'll also be sharing your Iburst connection.

Thanks Gatecrasher,

Just before I received your reply, I played around with it and got it right.

Appreciate the post though!!!!

don't forget to enable the WEP encryption else enjoy giving out free internet :D

I dont enable WEP or any encryption, but i dont send out the name of my routers wireless connection, so you can see the connection if you search for wireless networks. You have to set it up manually and provide the SSID. I also have an allowed list that only specifies certain mac addresses to be able to connect to the wireless network.

Is that secure enough? I'm not really expecting any hardcore hacking attemps in my leafy little suburb... lots of old people live around me.
