Afrikaans Uber struggling with poor reviews and high fee complaints

While it recently celebrated its 1st birthday, Afrikaans e-hailing service Wanatu is being criticised for not fixing its buggy app and charging users exorbitant fees.

It has also refused to provide any details about tangible growth or future potential, after previously punting ambitious expansion plans.
 
So Uber gets cheaper the further you go. So if you wanted to to save money you could ask the driver to go around the block a few more times before dropping you off
 
nice idea they had, but when your competing against Uber and bolt, you dont stand a chance,
people are highly price sensitive, and even if they weren't, how can you justify it over Uber Black.

Just remember the only "struggle" the article pointed out was online ratings. You have to wonder how much the "why didnt the Afrikaners create an african uber" crowd contributed.
 
Would only just compare UberBlack to Wanatu. Still had issues with UberBlack at times. It not perfect.
Non with Wanatu so far. The App needs work tho.

If you price is somewhere between Bolt premium and UberBlack I would hardly call them exorbitant.
 
I don't see why they'd want to share all the information you asked for. It's not like Shark Tank and you'll be helping their business. They likely don't trust you.
 
in March I wanted to try their app, after filling in all the info required which included my ID and a selfie, the OTP never came though so I couldn't complete the process.
Tried multiple times, no success so I gave up.

Seeing this followup , I decided let's be fair and try again today since my issues were back in March.
Well well, guess what I still can't register because their OTP still doesn't work, 8 months later and they still haven't fixed it...

Their low ratings are deserved and their own fault.
 
If you can't get the basic's right, you are not going anywhere, No idea what they charge, but again if they are pushing the price up they are going to fail.

Do you by any chance use True Caller?

Had the same issue with SARS OTPs, it was True Caller blocking the SMSs. Many times its the user "through no fault of their own"

I use google messages app for my sms. I also checked the spam and blocked on messages also nothing there.
Other OTPs are coming through just fine, Amazon and Takealot recently, absolutely no issues, other OTP smses comes through no problem.

Maybe check your DND ( do not disturb ) settings.

Wonder who's bring idea at golf day was this to wedge into less than 1% of taxpayers: the anc devil, the white afrikaans man taxi service.

DND is off, I never use it anyway but I did double check and it is off.
Also if the issue is on my side as some seem to be suggesting, why would only the Wanatu OTP not come through?
In the last week I have received OTPs from Takealot, Amazon and Paypal just this morning all came through no problems with them.
 
It was never a sustainable business model, huge startup costs, huge operating costs, tiny market share in a saturated market.
