Want 5800 on Weekender

Guys, my problem:

Want a Nokia 5800, but on VDC, not MTN.

It's now on special, but only in Midrand's Vodaworld, according to their website (no pay-in at all).

Local dealers in Western Cape want a R799 pay-in on the same package, which is a rip-off in comparison.

What do I do?

About to get one for my GF, but I am also trying to figure out who wants what commission.
I would like to waive the pay in myself. I wish I didn't live in a capitalist terrorist world.

Ive ordered the thing, Ill have to fork out the R699.... *sigh*

It's available on the Business package for R185/m with no pay-in. This includes 20MB data per month. I don't see the Weekender packages as a good way to go.

I would really like to understand why Business Call may be better?.. :confused:

Am I right in saying that with Weekender you get at least some free minutes, and on Business Call all calls (save the 20Mb data) will be charged on top of the 185 + CLI + Itemized Billing?

I don't have a problem paying that, but is it not a much worse rip-off eventually?

Please help anyone who is on Business Call or Weekender maybe?...

You have to do the calculations for your own situation/needs. If you're 100% sure you only need to make calls in off-peak periods then the weekender package is fine ... but what's the use of having a cell phone and then being limited to off peak calling only to stay within budget? One would want to make full use of the phone 24/7 to warrant the expensive investment, not so? The peak call rates for the weekender package is crazy imo. Add all the real costs and compare. Business and Talk packages offer way better free phones. Consider this in the cost comparison.

I Agree the talk packages are best bet, but she still needs a data bundle and sms bundle, and affixing that to a talk75 with work out to R300

The difference lies in the peak calls, with talk you have 75 bundled mins, with weekender, anything peak is charged.

Albeit, the differences between peak per minute tariffs between weekender and talk isnt much. R2.30 vs R2.10 for instance V 2 V

bevonk! has a good point though, something to consider well, 24 months is a long time :-)
 
Take the Talk 75 as example ...

75 PEAK minutes in Weekenders rates come to the following:

VC to VC = 75 x 2,30 = R 172,50
VC to MTN/CellC = 75 x 2,99 = R 224,25
VC to Telkom = 75 x 2,85 = R 213,75

The Talk 75 is only R54 more p/m than the Weekender. Now also consider that more expensive phones are free on Talk packages.

Weekender packages - in my mind - are only an option when one only receives calls during peak times and make all calls outside of peak hours. This defeats the object of having a cell phone in my mind - unless MXit and SMS is all it's really about.
 
That's why I'm porting from Voda to MTN, MTNs packages are much better.

give the VC shop in Melrose arch a call. I was in there yesterday, and not only were they very helpful, they said that they could do the same deal for the next 10 customers.
I want it on MTN though, so if you know of a shop with stock, let me know.

I wonder if the offers of 5800 will only get better after that date... What is the vibe, do you think? Should one go for it now, or maybe to wait it out is a better option?
