I found a great site with video tutorials on Android(200) also Java programming if you dont know it, recommended to check out before Android. They also cover other languages like C#, PHP and VB as well as some minor subjects like Adobe.

Check out http://thenewboston.org/tutorials.php

Also for design dont forget to grab the stencils over http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2012/02/android-design-v2-now-with-stencils.html

If you know of other's resources to help people start, please would you post them in this thread as well.

TheNewBoston is amazing! Im on Bucky's Java tutorials and he is an amazing teacher!

Google's old App inventor is back, this time at its new home over at MIT, based on the Source Code that you can find here

Creating an App Inventor app begins in your browser, where you design how the app will look. Then, like fitting together puzzle pieces, you set your app's behavior. All the while, through a live connection between your computer and your phone, your app appears on your phone.

You can build many different types of apps with App Inventor. Often people begin by building games like MoleMash or games that let you draw funny pictures on your friend's faces. You can even make use of the phone's sensors to move a ball through a maze based on tilting the phone.

But app building is not limited to simple games. You can also build apps that inform and educate. You can create a quiz app to help you and your classmates study for a test. With Android's text-to-speech capabilities, you can even have the phone ask the questions aloud.

To use App Inventor, you do not need to be a professional developer. This is because instead of writing code, you visually design the way the app looks and use blocks to specify the app's behavior.

@Elimentals - that looks good, any resources in PDF format as opposed to video? Would rather read stuff offline :)

Only ones I have access to are bought... will check out for free ones.

Forgot to mention another great bookmark is

With you Betty, would much rather have copy and paste examples than a video

Android just took one step closer to become a Desktop OS instead of a plain consumption device.

See: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aide.ui

AIDE is an integrated development environment (IDE) for developing real Android Apps directly on Android devices. AIDE supports the full edit-compile-run cycle: write code with the feature rich editor offering advanced features like code completion, real-time error checking, refactoring and smart code navigation, and run your App with a single click.

AIDE will turn your Android tablet with keyboard into a real development box. We use the Transformer Prime running Ice Cream Sandwich to code with AIDE. AIDE will turn your Android Phone into a small development computer to browse and touch your code on the go.

AIDE is fully compatible with Eclipse projects. Just copy the sourcecode to your device, open any source file in AIDE to load the project and start coding.

Saw that earlier, brilliant. Best part is that it's compatible with Eclipse so you can switch between your PC at home and your tablet/phone when you're away.
Not to mention it's free

Wakeing the thread from the dead so to speak.

Just wanted to update on a great Site I found some time ago and forgot to add it here.

http://www.fluidui.com/

Its a great site to create mock-ups of your applications complete with flow/animation so you can demo it to a customer before you start coding. Helps envision a project before you waste hours developing something that someone did not want.

Good for iOS and Android projects, hope they bring Windows Phone stencils soon.
