Wanted AMD motherboard supporting AM2 Socket

Seems the motherboard supporting the AM2 socket has been discontinued.

Does anyone perchance have a functioning one lying around?

Buy AM3+ mobo. its compatible. Read CPU support list.
I stuck an AM3 Phenom cpu on my AM2 board. works fine. just keep an eye on the TDP levels.

I have a AMD athlone 64 processor, am not entirely sure it is compatible though.

Wrong, AM3 processors can run on AM2 motherboards.
An AM2 processors will not fit in an AM3 motherboard.
