Can anyone recommend a decent online e-mail and list manager for sending out e-mail campaigns on an ad-hoc basis, roughly once every 3 months?

Over the years I have tried mylistmanager, graphicmail and I'm playing around with mailchimp.

These are all promoted as being relatively easy to use WYSIWYG editors, however I constantly find formatting becomes a major time consuming issue and invariably they require editing of the HTML code (my HTML skills are pretty rusty but I can generally figure enough out to fix what's wrong).

I really would like something that's relatively reliable and easy to use even by someone with no HTML skills.

Thanks

I used phplist many moons ago and it worked well. Not sure how it match up with other options these days.

MailChimp or Sendgrid. I don't recommend having your own MTA unless you have a dedicated (your own) IP-range and then follow through with SPF, DKIM, DMARC, whitelisting.

We had good experience with both MailChimp and Sendgrid (I personally prefer Sendgrid), but I think if you want to give mailing list functionality to not-so-tech-savvy staff, MailChimp is easier.

I had the worst experience with sendgrid. I registered my companies domain, setup up everything and they started rejecting emails. I ask them why they tell me i broke policies and delete my account. Now bear in mind that i was doing about 20 emails a day to MY email. It was just notification emails, pieces of ****. I move to mailjet and speak to the guys there and tell them the story they laugh and say not to worry, never looked back.

thanks for the inputs so far, I'll have a look at some of the alternatives mentioned

icontact was one of my favorites, whitelisted mail servers and tracking. meant 99% of our mailshots went through and we could monitor who saw it as spam or unsubscribed and/or clicked links etc
