I suggest trying to fix the RPi4 because for R1k it is going to be hard... Best I could get for an office 2 weeks ago was 2.5k per Dell and had to refurbish them myself. It had 8Gb RAM DDR3 and duel core CPU intel. I normally find them on Fb market place. I saw someone selling i5 4th gen 8Gb ram for R2k each not sure if they are legit. A ton of scams on Fb market so be careful. Problem I had it was to far away for me as it is in Jhb

For my application an Atom processor actually works fine. I'm sure there must be loads of those people don't want to use.

hp thin clients .add a drive and good to go .bid or buy sometimes has lots for sale .ive gotten 3 units over the last while all decent units the hp quad core sometimes have 4gig ram and 32 gig up to 64gig disc on board plug in units .ive also added ssd 256gig to one unit and its fine

yip .but google the specs and age .these things usually run 24/7 and make sure about the video output and power supply .also some are notoriously difficult to load windows on .ask him lots of questions .i see it has linux installed but which one .make 100% certain it will work for you before buying they can be difficult to get operational.he also has no ratings so no sales .also only buy x64 unit 32 bit wont work .

I know you want x86, but in case ... have two Asus Tinker Boards Rev 1.2 available in Oudtshoorn. Both barely used. No packaging. You can have both for a kilorand, shipping extra.

Thanks for the offer but I have some good alternatives that have popped up. I'll give those boards a skip in the mean time but I'm sure someone else might be keen.

Thanks - bought one, tested and it worked a treat. Bought out the guy's stock.
