I've got a spare Socket A mobo, some RAM a spare HDD, Case and all, just need a chip to be able to put all this junk to good use.

Any Socket A chip will do, although I'd perfer a 2400+ or higher.

PM me or just post with details and your price.

Thanks in Advance ;)

I have 2 x 2500 Bartons. How much you willing to pay?

umm.... well, not sure really :o

[EDIT] I just checked the prices of 754 Semprons and I can get a 2600+ for R410, so I wouldnt want to really pay more than that, but in the end it's up to you. [/EDIT]

I was thinking R350-00?

I don't have a cooler though...

Shyte, you live in no-mans-land;)

Edit.

I do but it's a Volcano 9 which you can have for R75. They were almost R300. Probably better to buy one where you are as they're quite heavy.

I could do that, BTW, have the chips been overclocked or anything?

And how were the Barton's performance wise? cant really remember much bout them.

I have a decent Copper cooler which should work, so the cooler isnt a problem

Bartons were good, I had another one which was overclocked which I gave to a mate. They had the 512Kb cache as apposed to the standard XP chips which had 256Kb.

I thought they were pretty good performers.

I can get you the chip codes if you like when I get home so you can choose 1 of the 2.

The Bartons were Model 10 CPU's and athough the lower spec'd were rated 333 FSB will easily do 400.

The bartons were the better of the athlon XP's. I still have a 2800+ Barton running in my old machine, still runs very nicely.

Get a good cooler though

What temp does your's run at?

BTW, if anyone has a faster AthlonXP or Sempron, dont hesitate to post, cos the faster I can get, the better.

Mid 50's, under load.
The chips can operate up to 80 i beleive.

I, too, could find a good home for a down-on-its-luck Barton 2500 :D ..and that seems like quite a fair price. One question though .. and please understand that this comes from the direction of 'caveat emptor', I'm in NO way meaning to impugn your good name!

What I'd like to know is how can I be certain that I'll definitely get a working part? I mean, I'm up here in JHB and you're down there in CPT and it's not like I could do anything meaningful by way of a refund should it turn out I get a dud..

As far as getting stuff across country goes, I've had great success with PostNetting stuff: I drop my item off at whichever one is closest to me at the time, and tell 'em to send it to the one my receiving party nominates ..piece o' cake! IIRC, to date they've yet to drop me and they're not even unreasonable on the volumetric weight penalty!

Quite a character I see;)

I'll definitely be keeping 1 of them so if ngage doesn't want it you're welcome to take it off my hands.

I've actually just tested both of them in an Abit nForce2 board that I have and both are working 100%

..why thank you! That must be the politest way I've heard "you're a stark raving nutjob" (..interpreted for decency) expressed ..now if only I could get my friends to be similarly polite!

you're welcome to take it off my hands.
Yea, let's give it a go. I know shipping to be safe enough, and I'm going to take on faith that you're going to (a) pack it safely enough and (ii) do so in adequately electrostatically safe packaging. If, despite due and reasonable precaution and all that, it still goes pear-shaped, we can still entertain ourselves with publically pillorying and vilifying, well, ...you! :D

..check PM for relevant details.

edit: being interested in protecting MY interests, financially - and just generally looking for the smoothest way to facilitate a transcation between two unknown/untrusted parties (as in; I don't know you from a bar of soap, I have no basis FOR trusting you ..nor you for me!) I just uncovered THIRT ..a (and possibly the only) .za public escrow service, that's available to we, the common people. Their rates seem reasonable enough: 3% each from the buyer and seller, with VAT on the transaction. On an amount this small, we just barely squeak in over the R10 *minimum* charge!

If you check their benefits page you'll see such comforting things as:
" - Sellers who THIRT.ify their transactions are guaranteed peace of mind."
" - All sellers are guaranteed payment for goods sold. Or they get the goods back." ..with similarly reassuring words for the buyer's end. It very neatly solves the unknown/untrusted other party problem and explicitly guarantees our respective interests are covered. Actually, I reckon I'm going to register anyway- it provides a most excellent way of being able to sell stuff all over the countryside without having to develop ulcers about how/when/IF I'm going to get paid!

So what you say, you happy to take this there and Do Business(tm) ..?
