wanting to buy a Macbook pro

they are more expensive - 13" pro R 12,882.00 vs R 11999.00
 
Probably some guys who buy direct from Core and try to make a profit on already inflated prices!
 
hmm, some of his stuff is a little cheaper, might be worth keeping an eye on his prices when the new iMacs launch.
 
Buy from zastore or digicape (or istore). OR at least a place you can walk into and check the "merchandise"...
 
Check out incredible connection and the istores themselves, std pricing in both stores but istores offer instore assistance with your purchase. for expensive electronic devices i personally prefer purchasing from a store i can walk in if any hardware issues are identified within the warranty / guarantee period. one further note - I found the istore people not totally happy with customers who noted they did their mac purchase elsewhere e.g. at incredible connection! probably a competition thing between the 2 co's!

The weirdest thing is actually that Core competes with all the resellers, cos they own the iStores.

Bizarre in the extreme.
 
If you in need of a macbook pro pretty soon i'd suggest an official Apple Store...
Especially since you'll be spending that much money....
If you know anyone going overseas then i'd suggest getting it from an apple store there as you can save up to R4000 on those MacPro's when compared to the prices in SA.
If im correct as long as the products been bought from an official Apple store your warranty should be applied here ....
 
Whatever you do, stay away from Voda's MBP and MB data specials - you have to pay it off over 3 years! Although you get a 3 year warranty as well (I think), it's just not worth it!

MTN is another story... My wife got a 13" MBP from them on a 2 yr contract for R600 a month. Still works out to R14 400, but her work pays for 60% of bill, so that's less than R250 pm, so less than R6k over 2 years!

Google Highveld PFS if you're a contract worker and would like similar perks... And if your company agrees to let you go thru them... I used to be part of them as well - almost bought me a 42" LCD with cellphone package, but now I'm a permie again, no contract benefits... Sigh, so had to take the 57% increase instead...
 
You can purchase the vodaxom MPB deals over 24 months instead of 36 months. Costs slightly more per Mnth but is 12 mnths less, as an eg, MPB 15inch, i7 sandy bridge with 256mb dedicated graphics card is R679 over 24 mtgs and R969 over 24 mnths with 300mb data pm bundle

Actually l like this idea more than the 36 months
 
Apologies, the R679 is over a 36 month period and on enquiry the vodacom assistant identified the payment over 24 months to be R969 pm. I incorrectly wrote R679 over 24 months and R969 over 24 months in my post above! its still an ok a deal and the monthly instalment is fixed as its not an open 3G data contract and not subject to e.g.interest rate increases if bought over a credit card!
 
consider a second hand macbook instead of financing ?
 
2nd hand FTW. I picked up a Unibody Macbook in perfect condition for way less than a new Mac.

erm. . .i want to get a macbook pro from over seas because its like R10 000 cheaper than buying one from S.A , how should i got about it ? , which shipping company should i use ? , what documentation would i require ?
 
Pasting in every single forum? Well my Mac is from overseas (like ALL Macs)....

Seriously, I will NOT buy anything directly from overseas that is more expensive than R1000 (that is the max I am prepared to lose). Yes there is insurance, but then you have to go through the process of claiming etc. No friends / family in the States. Else if it is R10 000 cheaper, organize yourself a holiday in the States and buy yourself a present ;)
