I thought I would get out my old copy of Guild Wars and start playing again. :)

Anything new I need to know? Should I join a guild; an SA one; which one?

THanks

When have you stopped playing?
There are recent additions, like War In Kryta content, part of Guild Wars Beyond and something a bit of it. :)

WHERE IS EVERYONE!?!?!?! :erm:

iBurst recently messed up latencies, so it became very unplayable and frustrating to try. :(

This thread sums up GW a bit, there isnt the hordes of players in towns anymore and
you'll have to hit up the international districts to see people.

I'm very interested to see if the hordes of GW players will flock back to GW2 when it launches, will it be good enough to bring those players back from wherever they went (prolly WoW). Personally I think some (lots) momentum has been lost in this "gap" between GW & GW2.

But heh, i'll be first in line when GW2 eventually launches, first private demo due this month.

There are no local districts. :)
Only American district has people, other districts are not so full.

The EU servers are dead... in Spamadan I'll see about 4 to 5 players at one time in district 1, but with the American server it is hard to even get into district two at times... The AE servers are very busy! I think everyone is trying to get back into the swing of things for GW2. Every title / achievement you get will give you something in GW2... Don't know how and what and how many but at least it will be something unique :p

Flip, I haven't been on for quite some time. I hope you lads are still enjoying it. :)

I've even been neglecting LOTRO for the last 2 months.

LORTO is free to play since the 10th ;) 10GB download not too nice though... (unless you have uncapped like meh)

What a discouraging thread, wanted to purchase GW again, probably wont now. (sold my GW+Factions to a mate ages ago)

Well, it depends on whether you want to get rewards from playing GW when GW2 launches. GW is still full, though as someone mentioned earlier, you will need to stay in the American districts for that, and mainly over the weekends. There are hordes of new players out there, I think all wanting to get in before GW2 launches, and I think Arena.net are certainly making it easier and easier for players to get to at least 30/50 points on the HoM. If you are just in for playing, then it gets better with the 3rd campaign (Nightfall) and the introduction of heroes. The expansion is also a must, and will bring a lot of life into the game as now you have all the stuff needed to bridge GW and GW2.
Of course you possibly don't give a stuff about rewards and are just wanting to socialise.
If you are a loner, then GW is now a solo haven, as the introduction of having a full party of 8 with heroes or other characters from your account means it is fun to spend time making a really good team to your perfection.
So, I do not agree with people saying GW is dead. I think the turn over of new players is high with old players leaving and some just ticking over until GW2 is released. It certainly isn't like its former self by far, but it still is the same great game, and if you haven't played since Factions came out, then you have missed a ton. So, now is the time to play. :-)

EDIT: I played WoW over the xmas period... man was I disappointed after coming from a GW background. But a lot of people still swear by WoW... so maybe you can try that, but I think it will be knocked for six when GW2 appears. So for now, I would suggest you prepare for that :-)
