Wanting to switch banks - Quick question about FNB

"Except that by insisting on credit FNB is relying on overspending and staying in debt"
- Is that not the same as with all credit cards?
It's up to the individual to control their spend...
Which begs the question of why should I even need to get a credit card when I don't really need it.

"You also have to use between a certain amount of credit irrespective of what you're actually earning so the last part isn't so correct"
- Please explain... I don't see why I HAVE TO use any more than what I usually do.
You HAVE to use a certain amount of your allocated credit so that part may be true for you but it's not necessarily true.

Why do I have to leverage the 55 days?

I use the credit card mostly to earn ebucks and get that whether going into a negative balance.
I even get paid (a very small amount) of interest on my positive balance.

Going into a negative amount is something I would use only for emergency.

I always have a good positive balance on both my cheque and credit card.

Absolutely no need to leverage if you don't need it.

Cash is king. Even in the form of plastic.

1. To up your credit rating
2. For ebucks
3. For emergency

I still don't get what you're trying to say here.
Why do I HAVE to a certain amount of my credit? I don't... and never do.

Clearly OP does not understand the concept of a credit record and how to manage it. If you are afraid of using your credit card account as a transactional account, then stay away.
