Hello

I have a small problem that I hope someone can help me with. I recently got an Imate KJam on Vodacom, everything is working fine after a few registry tweaks, however, I have a problem when trying to access any WAP websites i.e. wap.defza.com/voda (for sending your 20 free vodacom4me.co.za SMS's daily). I have no problems browsing normal websites, but whenever I try and view WAP content in Pocket IE, I get an error message saying that my connection configuration is incorrect.

I have set up the GPRS connection in the MYISP section of the connection configuration, which works fine with the exception of browsing WAP websites. I have noticed that the phone drops the active GPRS connection when I move from browsing a normal website to attempt to browse a WAP website, and attempts to connect to another setup in "My Work Network" section of the connection configuration. My feeling is that the phone decides it has to view WAP content through a WAP gateway/proxy, but I have no clue on how to fix this.

Has anyone else found the same problem? Please, if your current configuration works i.e. browsing WAP content over your GPRS connection post your config so I can try and get it right. Vodacom customer care is unable to assist me in this regard.

Many thanks.

Hey

Thanks for the prompt response. I tried that as well, but alas "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings"

I have searched endlessly for the last 3 days without any joy! I decided last night to download the Opera Mini browser, pointed it to a WAP site, and it worked. There is obviously a setting in Pocket IE that is causing this to happen.

I checked in the registry for anything, and came across this:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Load_WML_over_HTTP

I tried both 0 and 1 (soft resetting every time) and still nothing.

Anyone on Vodacom with a KJAM, please test if you are able to access WAP sites i.e. wap.defza.com/voda OR wap.vodacom4me.co.za using Pocket IE, if so, please post your config.

Thanks again.

I'd be interested in the tweaks you had to go through.

I got a K-Jam on the weekend and can use WAP no problem.

However I can't send or receive MMS's. It's not a setting thing, that I've got sorted. It seems the actual app that manages the MMS's is AWOL, can find it anywhere. There is no MMS dropdown under messages.

Any ideas? Leaf support says reload firmware....will probably have to do it :(

I also cannot connect to WAP, but sending MMS is fine. MMS has always been available under Menu => Switch Accounts => when in the Messages window.

Another thing with K-Jam - how do I know if I'm using EDGE or not? I live in Randburg and work in Sandton and it always says "Connected to GPRS"

I did a hard reset and the MMS application appeared!

I don't know of an app for the PPC that will show the connection type and speed but I'm sure there must be one somewhere.

Anyone knows of such an app?

is there not a AT command that can determine what you are connected to? GPRS/EDGE/3G ???

Vodacom3g - the application you are looking for is SBP GPRS monitor, great app with a today plugin (cost calculation and speed)

vodacom3g can you please post your config so all of us can get our WAP browsing working.

I downloaded the Vodacom WAP2 setting from clubimate and installed that.

Have you tried both the WAP1 and WAP2 configs? (on the same site) Might be the sites you're accessing is only supporting WAP1?

enabling wap

Hi

to enable wap browsing go to connection settings, advanced and configure to use with proxy. Has wap settings there - put in ip and port - v3g would be able help here as I don't know that. However this wap connection enabling should not work with vodafone live! as this works via a profile setting.
