I want to use the WAP54G as a repeater to connect to a WRT54G in another building and extend the network inside my house. I want to connect an external directional antenna on the one antenna port, and an internal panel antenna for distribution inside the house.

Can I do that? and if so what should I keep in mind?

I could be wrong here and your best bet would be to contact Daffy or Rodent but you cannot do what you are trying to do with two directional antennas you will have to have an omni or i think you can get a bi directional.
Like i say i could be wrong and if I am let me know because it would be a great help if we could do it.

you maybe have to put two units back to back with directionals

Even though the WAP54G and the WRT54G have 2 antenna ports, they only have 1 Radio.
So you can only attach 1 external antenna to it.
The second port is used for Recieve Diversity, which is pretty much pointless if you have a big antenna on it.

If you want to repeat signal, you'll need 2 devices back to back.

Universal Repeater

hi we have a 802.11g that wil do this ,costs R800.00 cash.

Universal Repeater
The built-in repeater function let the AP to serve as an wireless signal extender for your wireless router or AP. This will increase the wireless coverage. In addition to the standard WDS repeater function, the AP also feature Universal Repeater mode that works with devices without WDS function. This means your current wireless router and AP will be compatible with it.

Been watching the other sawireless thread from afar...
