I am about to buy a Citi Golf from Mastercar and they have an optional 2 year warranty for 3800.

Is this worth it, should I take the warranty or just leave it.

Seeing as you are buying a Citi Golf, yes, you need all the warranty, guarantee, medical aid and life insurance you can get with it.

That's not a bad price for a two year warranty and should be more than enough time to pick up problems related to abuse from the previous owner.
Is the distance unlimited?

Don't mind him. He was molested by an anally bleached clown in the back of a microbus when he was young, now he hates VW.

Distance is the important one. Doesn't matter they say it's 2 years, but then only have it valid for 5000km.

No. Citi/MK1 spares are aplenty and parts are cheap.

What does the warranty cover? Many a times these things are useless.

Either way golf spares are really cheap, that's one thing I can promise you.

It is unlimited km.

It is a 2008 model with about 50 000 km on the clock.

The arguement about the parts being cheap is a valid one.

Especially in Cape Town, you can ask your neighbour for parts

Parts are so cheap, I wouldn't bother. If you want peace of mind and nothing else, it's probably worth it. :)

Rather keep the money for insurance, they are expensive cars to insure and i'd put in a tracking device with the money. Beame is +- R90 p.m. and will save a fortune on insurance, or it'll be a requirement by insurers as they are one of the most stolen cars around.

What kind of warranty is it? What does it cover?
Most of them require you to keep a full service history @ the dealer, only cover a portion of engine replacement, don't cover any parts failing due to wear and tear, etc.

I can't believe people are still buying a 1976 design today. That thing is a death trap. You don't need a warranty, pirate parts all over the place R50 for most parts.

I assume this is a Mororite/MotoCare kind of thing? It's always worth it. I always take it, and have already got all the value back :D They don't cover EVERYTHING, for example when I had to get my waterpump and pulley replaced, I had to pay for the fanbelt, there are clauses that you can read through to see exactly what is covered.

Agreed, however when I say that I am the victim of a sex offender driving a kombi.
