Does anybody here have any experience of wardriving? If so, please tell us about it. What equipment and software have you used, what networks have you found, were any of them open for public access (I mean intentionally opened by the owner <grin>)

Whereabouts?

What it's like and what would you recommend to a beginner Anonymous Coward like myself wanting to go stumbling about for WiFi networks!

i dont think that this topic is particularly suited to this area of the forum, but here goes anyway [:D]

I suggest you go and download the first episode of "the Broken" at www.thebroken.org. if memory serves me correctly you will need:

1-3 weeks
A laptop w/Wifi-nic
Netstumbler
another linux proggie (i cant remember)

The rest you can pick up from the video clip!

I pick up a wireless network at my house (other than mine) but have never made the mission to access it. They must have one mother of an access point because their company is located about 1.5km away and i get decent signal from them. Guess i got better things to do...
