Yesterday I resubscribed to Warhammer Online.
Am I being silly? Obstinate? Masochistic? I mean, Failhammer? When there's ChO making waves and everyone keenly awaiting Aion? 4serias?
I guess so. Funny thing though, playing my black orc on Karak Norn, I spent almost the entire Sunday embroiled in a neverending game of hither and thither taking keeps, losing them, retaking them, defending them, grabbing BO's, and skirmishing. Destruction and Order seemed largey matched in the Empire vs Chaos T2 zones, with neither side willing to cede an inch. XP, Renown and gear kept coming. For the first time I felt like I could play Warhammer the way it was meant to be played. Not a PVE quest or Scenario in sight.
I have no idea what Tiers 3 and 4 will be like, no idea if endgame will be better than it was when I left, but this much I can certainly attest to : ORVR in the early tiers is fun and lucrative, and I'm once again enjoying this game. PAtch 1.3.1 and the resultant hotfixes seem to have fixed a lot, and I experienced no graphical bugs, terrain glitching or even much lag bar the huge zerg keep sieges which is to be expected.
Preliminary feedback is that it's still Warhammer - if you didnt like the 'feel' of it 6 months ago, you won't like it now. But ORVR is happening at the early tiers now, and happening a lot (of course probably dependant on server), and it's great fun and absolutely worthwhile focusing on. PVE, PQ's and Scenarios have fallen by the wayside and farming Medallions and ORVR Inf. in the RVR lakes is the way to go.
If anyone out there still playing or interested in trying it out, feels like saying hi, give me a shout out on Karak Norn (which seems to be the most active server). Char name, Skurm.
