Big development in R1.8-trillion takeover deal of major DStv partner

Warner Bros. Discovery plans to once again reject a takeover bid from Paramount Skydance after the rival media company amended the terms of its offer, according to people familiar with the company’s thinking.

The Warner Bros. board hasn’t made a final determination, but will meet next week, said the people, who asked to not be identified discussing internal deliberations.

Given that you've clearly got inside info, how was the Netflix offer better?
Paramount’s bid, it should be noted, was for the entire Warner Bros. Discovery business, including the TV and cable networks that will be split off next year; Netflix is only buying the Warner Bros. part. Puck reported that the stub Netflix is leaving behind is being valued at $5/share, which would mean that Netflix outbid Paramount.

You don't say? The Netflix offer was better...

Depends how it's looked at, less polarised commentators believe otherwise.

And in this thread's article it's suggested that WBD are just hopefully waiting for Paramount to increase its offer

No change to the message on the DStv program guide. This one's going to the wire..

So its only better for the bits that Netflix wanted then.

What happens to the bit that Netflix doesn't want? The current shareholders are left with it and they don't want it?
Sell it off at a better price than what Paramount offered. It's not rocket science.

AFAIK they' were only going to sell it off next year?

So nobody has expressed any interest then.

As I understood it, the intention was to spin it off into a new entity which was paused during the auction, so if the Netflix offer is concluded then that process will continue.

I don't see the value remaining in the entity for too long as it would be heavily a PayTV based entity, that is likely to be acquired to strip it for any valuable IP more than anything else. Its also kind of telling that Netflix isn't heavily interested in that IP since "TV show IP" would theoretically be of some value to them.

Has anyone showed any interest other than Paramount?

There is a certain necrotic orange critter that repeatedly expresses a lot of interest in the bit that Netflix does not want: CNN.

The aforementioned orange critter wants to either control or kill off CNN, the proposed merger options of WB with either Netflix or Paramount, requires either FCC or DOJ approval.

Considering that the FCC and the DOJ are captured, and that the Ellisons are already covered in thick layers of the critter's rectoplasm, it is easy to predict that Netflix will not get regulatory approval, whereas Paramount would get expedited regulatory approval.

Paramount/Ellisons would be required to either install Bari Weiss styled sensors at CNN, or have CNN "commit suicide".

Whatever does happen with CNN, it's likely that there will be a mass exodus there soon.

Netflix could find a way to sue the FCC/DOJ/Paramount and indefinitely delay any merger.

I used to love CNN.

If Trump decides to close it now, i have no issue with that. Since he won, they have proved themselves to be biased, democ-shills who will do anything to prop up the democrat agenda.

...and that the Ellisons are already covered in thick layers of the critter's rectoplasm

Nope, a recent article revealed that thanks to some bad Ellisons news reports they're no longer in his favour. (Think the problem was on CBS News)

So, more difficult to work this out now. I'm pretty sure Paramount will win, once they've been squeezed enough.

^^ @BBSA I'm guessing again...

Oh 100%, if the orange baby gets his mits into the deal then all bets are off in terms of how it plays out.

More wishful thinking?
