Hi

Just a friendly warning. This morning my Dad's car was stolen from Benmore shopping centre in Sandton.
Luckily we managed to find it. The perp's picked the car up, put in a brick pallete and pushed it into to the underground basement.

In CCTV footage there were 3 guards that witnessed this and did nothing about it. Which as far as I am conerned, they all working together.
Luckily with a bit of intimadation and a few good smacks here and there we managed to get the CCTV footage and car back.

Fellow mototrist's and shoppers in the area. Please becareful. That place is under heavy construction and that brings with it a lot of opportunist's waiting for an easy score. Watch your belongings and yourself.

Other than that. Totally shocking and appalling behaviour by the security. Could'nt be bothered to do their jobs in the least!

This is more like the Republic of Bannana Zuma!

**** happens. I had a car stolen 6 years ago & I never saw it again.... :(

I was only allowed to view the CCTV footage. I tried to pull my phone and record the recording but they got all upset about it and stuff...
As for car on pallete pics not uploading for privacy reasons....

Certain "membars" of our society could steal your socks off your feet without taking your shoes off :)
Some people are just gifted at stealing! amongst other things all bad I might add

Had a vehicle stolen from me 8 years back so I know the feeling.
Hell even the police are just as corrupt nowadays - these people have no skaam what so ever.

Sorry to hear, but glad you managed to get it back. What car was it? I wonder if these guys are able to steal the newer model cars from parking lots.

Does the tracker stuff still work underground?
I mean they did not really steal the car. They just relocated it for later retrieval.

Even if it does, they could have placed a jamming device inside/near the car to block any signals.

Its a very very old box shaped honda ballade... Like early 90's model I think... My guess is because there so much construction going on there... you find the opportunists... But I am convinced its an inside job. You'd have to be 100% blind not to see people pushing a car on a brick pallete and rolling it into the basement for later retrieval...

Lol! I think so. Those security guards were certainly in on it, or completely retarded to not see something like that in the area they are responsible for guarding! I had an attempted situation similar once, guards and CCTV around, yet it took me to come back to my car for it to stop.

Benmore is my neighbourhood shopping centre and it has become very dangerous. The ABSA in the centre was robbed a while ago, MTN was robbed last week and now the OP talks of cars being stolen ...

So you got a copy of the footage. Good.
Just upload some stills and obscure the plates.

I don't think the footage was obtained, only viewed with the centre management or whoever keeps the original footage. They don't usually let these things loose.

I wish I had a copy of the footage. It would be in the Mail & Guardians hands right now. Its a clear indiciation of their uselessness and underhand tactics. You can clearly see that they all in on it!

Those security guards are supposed to make sure that the property of the Shopping Mall is not damaged or removed. Their job is not to protect the customers and their cars. People should realise that. Those guys would have jumped on you had you vandalised a sign or pinched a trolley.

You're referring to the guards who are in the parking lots, who tell you they will look after your car while you are shopping? Those are the ones Im speaking of, not the guards in the malls who ensure the mall's property is safe.

Sounds like they did you a favor.

Oh no, those "car guards" are clowns. They're useless. They should be cleared away.

Hehehe... I know what you mean... Surprisingly its a good old vehicle. Would not sell it even if I had too. Its that reliable and efficient. And its an automatic. Mind you its not my car. Its my dad's. Just a run around vehicle.
