Police are warning motorists to be on the lookout for bogus cops using blue lights to flag down motorists. It's believed the gang uses flashing blue lights to flag motorists and then rob and hijack them. Local authorities have now urged motorists to be vigilant and look out for an unmarked white Toyota RunX using blue lights.

We urge the public to look out for this vehicle and report it to the police immediately.

The police have also warned motorists traveling on the N3 between Rockdale Bridge and Pavilion turn off near Westville, not to stop on this stretch of road, which they dubbed a crime hotspot, after a spate of robberies and hijacking in the area.
 
It's quite a catch 22. You either stop and chance getting hijacked or you make a break for it and get arrested by real police. I would try get to a police station if I found myself being tailed by a similar car I'd probably gun it for a police station, only problem is that there aren't any around that area.
 
A cop car can always be identified by its numberplates. It will end in a B is it's a SAPS vehicle.

Dude, ever heard of false plates? I can set a set made for you today if you want some. SAPS vehicle logos should not be to hard either. Uniforms a piece of cake.

On top of that, I've seen a lot of detective cars having normal plates and blue lights. On top of that, its going to be very difficult to see the number plate if its dark, he's got his blue lights (and probably brights) going and is riding up your arse.
 
What you should do is put your hazards on and drive at a normal pace to the nearest police station. That way real cops will know that you are not running away but rather protecting yourself.

I drove down along there on Tuesday night and 2 cars were stopped on the side changing tyres (one by the bridge, the other just before spagetti). The buggers used to put stuff in the road above the Pav but then it was easy to just turn off & go to the garage. Below the Pav you have quite a drive to the nearest garage in Sherwood or Berea
