At long last my Gnome warrior has hit 79. Should hit 80 in the next day or so. I have built up a set of Furious gear just about, so all is going according to plan.

Anyway, this Gnome will mainly be for PvP/Arena only. Will play very little PvE with her too.

Any experiences with Warrior PvP you guys want to share? I have picked up a few tricks I'll share, but first want to know if Warriors are a good PvP class in general for Arena's or should I rather play another class for this purpose?

It's definitely not a bad class, I played it for quite a bit in arena as well, but never at the top end. My 2v2 arena partner is a pretty amazing druid trolling these forums as well. What I have learned is, you need A LOT of macros, no jokes. About 75% of my buttons were macros!

You will also need to learn to stance dance. Doing a shield reflect at the right time (hard to do with 250ms latency even) can save you a lot, especially if you reflect a CC spell. The other thing that helps a lot, is re-acting fast on execute and overpower when they light. You also need to keep rend up 24/7, but you have to let it fall off then re-apply it afterwards immediately. The reason for letting it fall off, it is guaranteed to trigger overpower when it falls off, so let it for some extra damage.

That being said, I generally start with a charge, put on rend and mortal strike after which you probably already got a trigger on execute/overpower and can start use it. Inbetween this depending on how fast my target tries to run I will use piercing howl. Now you just have to keep the pressure up and if you have a nice weapon (for this you will need pve, also for trinkets/rings ect) and things should go smoothly, though don't expect it to go easy in the beginning.

Now last of all, we only reached 1580s +- so very close to 1600 but at that point given up with 30minute games ect. So either I didn't know how to do proper damage or the healer's gear nowadays are pretty decent and they just keep up forever even between MS and the 10% arena healing nerf.

Check out some youtube videos too where the warriors show off how to abuse macros, it really is amazing.

Nice advice ty mate.

Yea, I have mainly been leveling in BG's and I normaly pop charge, then hamstring. From there I put in a MS and Rend. Then what ever lights up I use. Takes allot of practice but that is what I like about this class. Much more fun than just face rolling. No pro yet as I haven't hit 80 yet but only a mater of time.

I love it when I fight rogues:

They always start with a sap, I used Berserker rage (breaks the sap) Right there the rogue is so confused he doesn't know what to do. We exchange a few blows and he then disarms me, I fear him and get distance for a charge when my axe is back. Here what they do is trinket and blind me. Trying to run and get distance to go stealth again. Pop trinket, charge+hamstring and the fight is over :D. They assume that I have no trinket left because I broke the sap :p I haven't spec'd piercing howl yet, will do once I hit 80 for a final respec.

I have also noticed that because of our "lag" sometimes the Bladestorm is just out of range. I have no learnt to pop a hamstring first before I hit Bladestorm. and man does that WTFPWN players in range

I grinded about 10k honor yesterday morning, first tried Arms...didn't turn out too well with no resilience gear, changed into my pve prot gear for lolz (540 def = resilience capped, 53k buffed hp) and didn't have problems

Aw, hey there.
(& wave Tinuva :)

I'll add or rather highlight how heavily gear dependent warriors are. Far more than any other class. Most warriors in 2's (95%) go for arp, so not full pvp gear needed/wanted. Thats something in the range of 700 arp. You need things like Deathbringer's Will trinket and some serious ICC25 weapon (well needed so u can get a proper pvp one)

Regarding 2's setups your real viable setups is Warrior/Resto Druid or Warrior/HPally, but be prepaired for some long matches also sometimes. For you its all about pressure (ms, rend!!), hope for some procs & then getting a CC in @ the right time.

As Tinuva said latency is kind of a bitch, even if you have 230-250ms. It affects melee a bit more than range. As a melee you'll see when you get into arena. Out of range crap, 2 slow on reflect, intercept, switching, peeling from your healer etc etc.
From your partners point, slower reaction of root, cyclone, stun, repent etc.
250ms does not seem allot for SA, still you can see a Mana Burn etc. comming, run behind a pillar & on your screen you are behind it already but it still hits you. Same when a warrior charges you. Its the little things that gets more and more important as you go higher.

I think get a pvp warrior (like Tinuva) who you can have a chat to if there is something you have a problem with etc etc. As you know there is quite allot of tips and tricks with a class and I myself find asking someone who has done it easier than being frustrated for ages before I figure it out myself :p
And of course it it goes without saying, learn the setups you will face in arena and what you need to do against them.

Warriors might sound bit boring for some, but if you talk to people who play them they are allot of fun and thats what its all about is it not?
So GL, all the best and let us know how it goes!

Warriors in pvp is awesome if played right and yes you need a ****load of macros, good gear and a healer! Once I am home I shall copy and paste a few I have. But tbh I have had way more fun with prot pvp then arms.

Prot pvp with decent arp gear and a nice 2.6 speed weapon is fun :P

Sure you don't lay waste to people very fast. BUT you survive and you have a lot of mobility and such. Great for running flags etc.

And on using bladestorm always make sure to macro that mother with Sweeping strikes to get more sweet whirling madness.

Make a stop casting macro for bladestorm as well if people are out of range.

Have fun!

My mage loves eating warriors :D
j0n0 is a kick ass warrior in PVP :D

We did some 3 vs 3 arena the other day. We were 3 gnomes... 2 frost mages and 1 warrior... and we freeken dominated :D

From the hordies perspective I can imagine how confusing it might be... 3 little ankle biters heading your direction and mirror images all over the place :D We had about 6 flawless victories in a row :D

Here are some macros in the meantime you can try out.

Bladestorm + SS (great thing is they cast at the same time, so only need to push once)
Code:
#show bladestorm
/cast sweeping strikes
/cast bladestorm

Disarm, need to press twice I think
Code:
#show Disarm
/cast Defensive Stance
/cast disarm

SB, I use this when my healer is too far away, CC'd or whatever the reason, I am getting low and need to safe myself against a melee
It will first put me in the stance I need to be as well as equip 1h + shield
Code:
#show Shield Block
/stopcasting
/cast [nostance:2] Defensive Stance;
/equipslot 16 Rimefang's Claw
/equipslot 17 Royal Crest of Lordaeron
/cast Shield Block

Spell Reflect, only if I am in zerker stance will it switch me, you can use this in both battle and def stance, again equips 1h + shield
Code:
#show Spell Reflection
/stopcasting
/equipslot 16 Rimefang's Claw
/equipslot 17 Royal Crest of Lordaeron
/cast [stance:3]Battle Stance [stance:1/2] Spell Reflection

Interupt (either casts pummel or shield bash)
If I am battle stance, it will switch me to zerker, if in zerker just cast pummel, if in def with shield on (which is usually the case) just shield bash.
Code:
/cast [equipped:Shields, stance:1/2] Shield Bash; [noequipped:Shields, stance:1/2] Berserker Stance; [stance: 3] Pummel

This is one of my intercept, charge macros, used when I am out of range and have bladestorm on and something happened its a waste of time now, so just press this and I will be back on my target
Code:
#show [combat] Intercept; Charge
/cast [stance:1] Charge; [stance:3,combat] Intercept; [stance:2/3,nocombat] Battle Stance;
/cancelaura bladestorm

There are a few misc other macros but I am sure you already have those or will figure them out as you need, since those I mostly made myself.

Hit 80 at about 22:30 but had to leave for work :(

I have the chest and head of the Furious set and weekend coming it's AV weekend. Lots and Lots of honor so I should have the full PvP set including cloak and ring and what not by Monday next week. Warrior has been by far the hardest toon I had to get to 80. But they sure as hell are allot of fun :)

oh yes warriors are fun. Nothing more fun then charging and intercepting :P not even death grip brings me as much joy :P
